Mending with Intention.

“Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention.

So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is YOU.”

The world can seem like a pretty shitty place sometimes… and in all honesty, it really is. This week, innocent lives were taken, fear swept across the globe, tears were shed and hearts were left broken, longing for the return of loved ones that would never come home.

“We lose peace when we forget that we belong to each other”. The fingerprints left by the hands that made my heart are on the heart of yours as well as every heart that beats in this world. Can’t you see? We belong to each other.

This world is broken. Maybe not in the immediate reality of the world you live in, but the moment we look further than ourselves, we can’t deny, the world is broken. But all things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. And with loving intention, this world can still be a beautiful place.

This week I also saw:

Thousands gather together to remember those lost and encourage those who are broken.

Doors held open for complete strangers.

High school students raise thousands of dollars for young people battling cancer.

A small child with physical disabilities be celebrated by her friends over her new prosthetic leg.

Friends of mine give up their entire summers to freely serve and love students across the state.

As well as countless acts of kindness we often overlook.

None of these things can ever replace the loss of the friends and family lost in Manchester this week… However, I urge you to remember - “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” And this broken world waits for the LIGHT and LOVE that is YOU.

Want to make this world beautiful? LOVE… intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally.
