"Please stop trying to make me hate other people."
Because I won’t.
I’m not the most politically knowledgeable individual. I wouldn’t call myself some history buff. I have yet to march in the street for a cause I believe in (although it’s something I plan to do). And I don’t know the perfect solution to our world’s problems. But this is one thing I’m coming to learn:
We will not find justice until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.
As I’ve said before. The reality is - I’m a WHITE MIDDLE-CLASS MALE. The LEAST oppressed category of human in the country… I get it. And I've never had an experience that will allow me to fully understand some of the hurt in the world... However, it is white middle-class males that may likely be the individuals most needed in the pursuit for justice and peace.
“Over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the WHITE MODERATE… who is more devoted to “ORDER” than to JUSTICE… who prefers negative peace… to the presence of justice… who constantly say: “I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action…”” - MLK
We MUST take action… We must, because we can.
I don’t know the answer. I don’t have the perfect solution. But I DO know that I CANNOT and WILL NOT stand for the hate, fear, violence and inequality this evil is determined to spread.
Hate cannot drive out hate. Only LOVE can do that. And so I BEG OF YOU. Love not only at your own convenience within the comfortability of your immediate world… but LOVE FIERCELY. Love with action. Love with purpose. And love for those who hurt, fear and are fighting for the very value of their existence.
And to do that, we must be informed, we must educate ourselves and we must involve ourselves, no matter how removed we may be, in this fight for justice. Because hating others will never be cool.
